Ethel Marie Maser of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late George Maser, passed away on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 with her family by her side after a hard fought battle with cancer, at the age of 75 years.
Ethel was born on Valentines Day, February 14th, 1937 to Joyce and Thomas Gawthrop in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Kincaid, Saskatchewan and moved to Medicine Hat where she met George Maser. They were married on February 2nd, 1955 and made Medicine Hat their home where they raised their three children. Ethel loved her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She was a great cook, enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends at her home. She also enjoyed history, travelling the world, cooking, anything with her family and was a voracious reader. She will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind person who always had time and kind words for others. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Joyce and Thomas Gawthrop; one sister, Valerie (Lars) Larson; and her beloved husband, George. She will be lovingly remember forever by their children, Kelly (Kent) Hodgkinson and their children, Sydney and Michael, Darrell (Sandra) Maser and their children, Jamie (Mike) Reid, Josh (Ursula) Maser, Matthew Maser and Brandon (Alicia) Maser and Brent (Annette) Maser and their son, Blake; six great grandchildren, Mila, Sonya, Layla, George, Hannah and Kiana; one special niece, Kathy McKillop; as well as her dear friend, Gordon Bellamy. Ethel was a very beautiful, caring woman with a wonderful sense of humour and will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew her. At Ethels request, a Private Graveside Service will be take place. Ethel has left behind a thousand memories that will live in our hearts forever.
With each memory,let our hearts be reminded that nothing can ever take away the beauty we have known and that her love will remain a part of us forever.
She was a SPECIAL lady and friend.

I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's illness & passing.
I always loved your mom & cannot remember a time in my life when she wasn't a friend of my moms.
Never forget how wonderful she was, how many great stories (I can think of hundreds) you can share about her life.
