Mrs. Esther Wonnenberg of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Robert Wonnenberg, passed away on Sunday, November 4th, 2012 at the age of 81 years. Esther leaves to cherish her memory six children, Millie Seefried of Red Deer, Leslie (Karen) Wonnenberg of Sylvan Lake, David Wonnenberg of Medicine Hat, Robert (Rita) Wonnenberg of Oyen, Rodney Wonnenberg and Doug Wonnenberg, both of Medicine Hat; ten grandchildren, Cara, Julie (Brent), Tina (Colin), Shane, Kristen, Teri (Cameron), Coral (Kevin), Justin, Carson and Ariel; seven great- grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Albrecht and Elsie (Fred) Horner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her husband, Robert Wonnenberg on August 31st, 1974; her parents, Arnold and Olga Laube; and one brother, Helmut Laube. Esther was born on May 17th, 1931 in Leader, Saskatchewan, where she was also raised. She met the love of her life, Robert in Leader and they were married on November 1st, 1952. Together they raised their 6 children. Esther loved to visit (especially the coffee part), bowling, baking and watching soap operas. Esther moved to Medicine Hat, following Robert's death, which generated many new friendships. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, November 8th, 2012 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2793 Southview Drive SE, from 12:30 until 1:25 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Esther’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102, 73 - 7th Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1J2. Im so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing, she was a strong woman, suffering such a early loss of her husband, but continued to raise her family. My deepest condolences to you all, take comfort in the fact that they are now reunited.
