Mrs. Irene Reierstad of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Clifford "Cliff" Reierstad, passed away on Monday, December 17th, 2012 at the age of 83 years. Irene leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Marie (Doug) Glock; one son, Ray (Dixie) Reierstad; three grandchildren, Jillian (Jose) and their children Felix and Knox, Cameron (Shai), and Kristopher; one brother, Ed Maser; two sisters, Tillie Stack and Helen (Leroy) Wegner; one sister-in-law, Florence Brower; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Clifford, Irene was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Emelia Maser; and two sisters, Ella Eslinger and Clara Stromsmoe. Irene was born the youngest of six children on the Maser family farm in the New Home District northeast of Manyberries. Irene resided on the farm until she was 18 years old. At that time, she came to Medicine Hat and for a short time was employed at Dominion Glass in Redcliff. On September 30th, 1947 she married Clifford Reierstad and they lived on the Reierstad family farm where they raised their children, Raymond and Marie. In 1976 they moved to a small farm southwest of Medicine Hat to semi-retire. They resided at the acreage until 2000. At the time of Cliff’s death, Irene moved to Chinook Village and remained there until shortly before her passing. Anyone who knew her was aware of her gardening and crocheting skills, her love of playing cards and her steadfast love and devotion to family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Blaine Schaufele officiating. A Private Family Interment will take place in the Family Plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery.
