He worked for Poole Construction in the 1950s on the new irrigation project in Hays - Rolling Hills building concrete drops in the canals. In the late 1950s early 1960s he went to Calgary to work for JK Campbell & Associates on large projects all over Alberta and Saskatchewan. In 1968 he transferred to Vancouver where he worked on projects all over the province until he retired. He became involved with the Port Moody Rock & Gem Club and did fine lapidary work making bolo tires, belt buckles and jewelry. After he retired he joined the Dogwood Seniors Lapidary Club in Coquitlam where he taught classes every Friday for several years. They made him an Honourary Member in 2013 presenting him with a beautiful rock trophy.
