Lucien Duffy Renard of Medicine Hat, loving partner of Dianna Malmgren, passed away on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at the age of 63 years.
Lucien Duffy was born in Virden, Manitoba on April 5th, 1949 to Robert and Irene Renard. Lucien Duffy is survived by his mother, Irene Renard; his brother, Ron and wife Mareen; and two sisters, Shelley Renard and Debra Renard. Lucien Duffy was predeceased by his father, Robert. The family moved to Woneowone, BC and later to Calgary. Lucien Duffy attended Holy Name and Saint Marys Schools. He had two beautiful children, Jason and Selina, with his first wife, Sandy in Brooks, Alberta. He also leaves to cherish his memory two step daughters: Dena Malmgren (Shane Hamann) and their children, Jayden Malmgren (Tanner Nagel) and Cameron Hamann; and Jane Malmgren and her sons, Jordan Malmgren and Kalan Malmgren. Duffy and his brother, Ron ran an excavating business for many years in Brooks. At this point Duffy decided to pursue a higher education. He received his high school diploma at age 40 and then, with perseverance and drive, received a degree and later a masters in Health and Science. In the latter part of his education, he met the love of his life, Dianna Malmgren. They both shared the compassion of people in conflict and thus began Lucien's journey of counselling. Lucien Duffy explored many parts of Canada and United States by motorcycle. He loved the freedom of the road and the abundance of nature and scenery before him. Lucien Duffy was an avid reader of nonfiction material that dealt with the stresses of life and the balance of inner peace. He loved all animals especially his dogs. Along with his partner Dianna, they travelled to many exotic places together. Never tiring of giving his educational advice on life, the people around him valued and trusted to him their most inner thoughts. No other person like our Lucien Duffy had the honesty and integrity and who strived to live by it. We will all miss him immensely. Goodbye good friend! Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Saturday, February 9th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial gifts in Luciens Duffys memory may be made to Medicine Hat Family Services, 477 - 3rd Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0G8. Condolences
Dianna although I never talked to Lucien, there always was that "Good Morning" greeting at the gym and I just wanted to express my Deepest Sympathy.
Sorrow does not last forever, but memories do and so does love.
Take Care

I am so sorry for your loss. I am tempted to come over to the memorial as I am in Brooks. What are the odds that our father's memorial are on the same day?
I remember you often my old friend and have good thoughts of your dad. Wish I had known him more recently.
I would love to keep in touch,
Randy
We are so very sorry for your loss. It was our privilege to have met Lucien through our time at the Y with both of you.
May you find comfort in your memories and know we are thinking of you and your family.
