Mrs. Joan Renschler of Burdett, beloved wife of Garnie Renschler, passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the age of 63 years. Along with Garnie, Joan leaves to cherish her memory three children: Bradley (Marina) and their children Shelby and Dusty; Tracey (Terry) Gardner and their children Thomas and Tyler; Michael (Amber) and their children Braeden and Luke. She will be dearly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Janet Renschler, John (Eileen) Witts, Joyce Whitney (Neil), Jim (Lila) Witts, Jean (Stef) Choja; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Louis) Simon; brother-in-law, Roger (Bev) Renschler; sister-in-law, Carol Bishop (Jim), as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and special bud, “Charlie”. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Verna and John “Jack” Witts; brother-in-law, Doug Renschler Sr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julia and Albert Renschler as well as nephews, Shawn Whitney, Terry Simon and David Simon. Joan was raised and received her education in Medicine Hat. She married Garnieth Renschler on December 16, 1965. Together they moved to the Burdett area and raised their family of three children. She worked a number of years as a nurse at the Bow Island Health Centre, a job she enjoyed very much. Joan enjoyed reading, painting and crafts, as well as gardening, painting, cooking and baking. Nothing, however, was more precious to Joan than time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St. Andrews United Church, 139 - 2 Avenue West, Bow Island on Saturday, July 26, 2008, between 9:00 A.M. and 9:55 A.M. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrews United Church on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. with Sheila McLeod officiating and interment to follow at the Burdett Cemetery.
